How To Save Money Shopping Online – The Price Guarantee
November 25 Update: After we wrote the below article, Zappos quickly increased its price back to $344.95. However, you can still get them for $275.90 at Endless (ironically both Endless and Zappos are owned by Amazon). Not that you would, however. You get the best saving by buying the boots at Shoes.com and then applying the price guarantee! Please read the original article below (prices may have changed since we wrote the article):
We decided to write an article about this when we read a happy twitter message from Vivian Yuan about a pair of Sam Edelman Zoe boots she had just purchased at Zappos.com. The deal she had found looked great as the boots had been reduced to $275.96 from $344.95, a discount of exactly 20%.
Buying the same pair at Nordstrom would have set her back $398.95, which means that she saved $122.99 by purchasing the boots at Zappos.com. However, could she have saved even more?
Another search shows that the boots are also available at Shoes.com. While the Sam Edelman Zoe boots are listed at $345.00, it does not matter as Shoes.com offers a 110% price guarantee! Simply make your order at Shoes.com, then call 888-233-6743 and tell them you found a cheaper price at Zappos.com, and Shoes.com will give you 10% additionally off the Zappos.com price. In this case, that would mean an additional saving of approximately $27.59!
In other words, you can save a lot of money by making your purchases at merchants that offer a price guarantee of over 100%. Heels.com is another great merchant in this category, they offer 115% price protection and free 2nd day shipping on all purchases (free shipping applies to US purchases only). Unfortunately, Heels.com does not carry the Sam Edelman Zoe boots.
Please make sure to read the merchant’s terms and conditions carefully. For example, Shoes.com does not price protect the following brands: “Allen Edmonds, Brooks, Clarks, Dansko, Diesel, Donald J Pliner, Dr. Tuxedo, Dyeables, Frye, Havainas, Hunter, Jonathan Kayne, K-Swiss, LAMB, J-41, Kenneth Cole, Livie & Luca, Liz Rene, Lucchese, MBT, Merrell, Mizuno, Morgan & Milo, NAOT, Puma, Reebok EasyTone, Reebok RunTone, Reebok ZigTech, Roxy, Royal Elastics, Skechers Shape-Ups, Stuart Weitzman and UGG Australia”.
