Get Ready for the Snowpocalypse

February 10, 2010 • By Erika

You must’ve read the news by now: the mid-Atlantic states are currently experiencing “record snowfalls and unseasonably cold temperatures” after being hit by a major snow storm last Friday. The National Weather Service issued a warning for yet another snow storm just this Monday, which is expected to add another 10 to 20 inches of snow on the US East Coast still trying to dig their way out.

Reports of people hoarding food supplies, stocking up on essentials, and emptying out supermarkets have mostly filled the news these past few days, but there are always two sides to the coin: while others call the strange weather pattern “Snowpocalypse” or “Snoverkill”, there are those who are enjoying their unexpected break from work and school and are loving every minute of their snow day. When life gives you lemons…

However you view it and whichever side you’re on, the important thing is to keep warm! These new snow boots for men, women, and kids arrived just in time for the crazy snow:

For Men

The Columbia San Gil® Omni-Tech®, $124.95. These are meant for hiking, but with their contour comfort footbeds and waterproof uppers, they’ll fit right in the present city landscape just fine. Oh and the fact that GQ’s 2010 menswear trend report includes hiking boots is just a bonus.

For Women

The Fitzwell Lexie, $69.00. These are an updated version of a classic Fitzwell boot style. They still have the suede shaft and the genuine wool lining, but they now feature buckles so that you can adjust the boot to your size accordingly. No more worrying about skinny or wide calves. Don’t forget to spray them with a suede protector before use!

For Kids

Kamik Kids Waterbug 5 Wide (Toddler/Youth), $60.00. These are 600 denier nylon uppers, 100% waterproof, antiperspirant, adjustable, AND -25ºF/-32ºC temperature rated. Now if only they came in cuter colors for little girls…
