Lenny Kravitz was seen wearing knee high platform wedge boots while out in New York last Thursday are keeping the internet busy. Of course, majority of the comments are lambasting the 46-year-old rock star, saying everything from why is he wearing women’s boots to WHAT IS GOING ON with the entire outfit.
It’s easy to hate on a man who’s wearing a drapey cowl neck tunic (what?), moto leather pants, tall high-heeled wedge boots AND a murse (man purse), but as a fashion lover, I call everyone to look past all of that and focus on the MAN inside of all those clothes.
First of all, that’s Lenny Kravitz fercryinoutloud. Second, he’s a rockstar. Third, he wrote the ultimate breakup song “It Ain’t Over ‘Til It’s Over”, dated hot women like Adriana Lima, brought forth to this world the beautiful Zoe Kravitz and other awesome stuff, that somehow, that exempts him from the typical fashion rules that apply to us regular people.
Creative, artistic and awesome people can wear things normal people can’t, and that’s why I think Lenny Kravitz is killing it with these knee high wedge boots. Only he, along with a very select group of men (namely Prince, Bill Kaulitz, and this guy in Nina Ricci heel-less boots) can get away with clothes like this, and I think we should let them if for the simple reason that there’s so few of them.
Now back to reality. Do you know a man who can wear knee high platform wedge boots like Lenny Kravitz? Chances are, no. In fact, even online shoe stores themselves hardly carry any tall boots for men and these were as fashion-y as I could find them:
- Converse Chuck Taylor All Star XX Hi, $65.00
- Jo Ghost Men’s 4043 Knee Height Tall Boot, $356.45
- Jo Ghost Men’s 4036 Knee Height Tall Boot, $519.95
- Dr. Martens 966311004DMS 20 Eye Boot, $128.95
These are all tame compared to Lenny Kravitz’s much talked about boots, but would you dare wear these if you’re a man or do you know a guy who would dare to wear these if you’re a woman?
