Nicholas Kirkwood Booties Take Center Stage at the 2011 Met Costume Institute Gala

The Oscars may get more media coverage but in terms of fashion and style, the Met Gala beats the Hollywood awards show by a mile. Attendees to the annual event know that it’s an occasion where they can ditch the classic, crowd-pleasing looks and go as high fashion as they like!

That’s why unlike the Oscars where only Cameron Diaz dared to break away from the sandals and pumps, we got to see a lot more shoe styles and thankfully, a lot more boots this time around. And taking center stage at the 2011 Met Costume Institute Gala were these eye-catching, envy-inducing booties that gave more oomph to these celebrities’ looks better than any sandal or pump can:

These looks wouldn’t be Met Gala-worthy without the booties!

Miranda Kerr and Hailee Steinfeld’s booties have Nicholas Kirkwood written all over them. That recessed platform, edgy cuts and innovative styling are unmistakably his.

Miranda Kerr’s Nicholas Kirkwoods are these Nicholas Kirkwood Lace Lace-Up Platform Sandal Booties:

These retail for $1,195.00 at Neiman Marcus.

As for Hailee Steinfeld’s Kirkwoods, they are these Nicholas Kirkwood 130MM Karung Metal Trim and Net Sandal Booties:

These ones are $1,829.50 at Luisa Via Roma. Both are from the Nicholas Kirkwood Spring 2011 collection.
