Inspired: Iconic Lace Up Booties!

October 28, 2011 • By Karla Mae

Some believe that the flair for dressing up takes talent and taste, a good eye for design, proportion and color. What they forget is that it can also be inspired by things we see, hear, even taste. Today, we racked up the boots lust list inspired by some of the most intriguing stories from theater and the silver screen.

Daniela Bianchi as Tatiana Romanova in From Russia With Love

‘Orient Express’ Lace-Up Bootie, $1,325, Charlotte Olympia

This lace-up bootie perfectly embodies the luxury train line mixed with vintage appeal, sex, and danger. One of the hottest Bond films of all time, From Russia With Love features the usual spray of action, romantic rendezvous and literally, killer heels. It culminates in an iconic scene with James Bond jumping onto a Venice-bound Orient Express service in Istanbul.

Idina Menzel as Elphaba in Wicked

Green Lace-Up ‘Lydia’ Bootie, $915, Charlotte Olympia

Its green and girly, the patent leather bow and tassels seemingly symbols of young dreams. And at 5.5″ high, it absolutely defies gravity. How can we not think of the lovable Elphaba when we see this shoe? Move over ruby red slippers, there are new magical shoes in Oz.

Lara (Julie Christie) and Dr. Zhivago (Omar Sharif)

‘Pelle Royal’ Grey Suede Boots, $1,875, Sergio Rossi

Romance is always inspiring. Tragic love affairs even more so. These grey, fur-trimmed suede boots channel the cold of the Russian Revolution interspersed with romantic elements, just like Dr. Zhivago and his mistress Lara were caught in a passionate love at a dangerous time.

All featured boots are available on The Webster Miami.
