Trendspotting: Patterned Woven Blanket and Distressed Leather Boots

Those Cobra Society Otto boots we spotted on Jessica Alba in October has sparked a trend in boots in a major way. We knew that those Cobra Societys were going to be “It” boots. The fact that they already had a knockoff just about a month after their release shows just how hot and in demand they are!

Steve Madden was first to come out with a low-cost version of the Cobra Society Otto boots, this ‘Tolteca’ boot with higher stacked heel, an added buckled harness strap and a slouched-down style:

Now we’re seeing distressed leather boots with patterned woven blanket inserts all over the place. Freebird by Steven recently came out with this ‘Caballero’ boot that comes closest to the look of the original Cobra Society Otto boots:

But not all woven blanket and leather boots out there are trying to copy the Cobra Societys. Frye only used their old ‘Shirley’ boot style for this newest trend but the effect is totally new and fresh while still retaining its vintage appeal:

We also spotted the trend on this Bed Stu ‘Hacienda’ boot. Instead of a cowboy boot, Bed Stu used a lace-up boot and also used the woven blanket fabric panels on other places other than the shaft:

Ashley Tisdale Heads to Miami in All Saints Damisi Boots

Ashley Tisdale flew to Miami, Florida yesterday to visit long-time boyfriend Scott Speer who is currently filming “Step Up 4″ in the Sunshine State.

Looks like Ashley couldn’t wait to see Scott because as soon as she landed in Miami, she only grabbed some snacks to go before heading straight to Scott Speer’s movie set.

Ashley dressed comfortably for the cross-country flight in a grey hoodie, rolled denim cut offs, and brown buckle-cuffed combat boots. Right before landing, Ashley freshened up and removed her grey hoodie to reveal this loose and breezy pomegranate top underneath:

Cute outfit to travel AND to meet your boyfriend in, isn’t it?

Of course, we’d recognize Ashley Tisdale’s buckle-cuffed boots anywhere. Ashley Tisdale is wearing an all-time celebrity and Boots4You favorite, the All Saints Damisi boots:

Leighton Meester Shops at Edit New York in Givenchy Knotted Knee High Combat Boots

The post for today is a continuation of yesterday’s post where we mentioned that Leighton Meester has recently been wearing some gorgeous boots.

While Leighton went the luxurious route with the Roger Vivier Cuissarde Peppy boots, she made a complete 180 with these knee high combat boots she wore to go shopping at Edit New York last Thursday:

Leighton continued on with the rugged casual theme by pairing her boots with a grey drape front cardigan, a shirttail-hemmed black skirt and grey knee high socks. She finished off her look with wayfarers, a printed green scarf and a teal Proenza Schouler PS1 bag.

Of course, when it comes to celebrities, particularly one as fashion-conscious as Leighton, even the “rugged casual” look can be very expensive. Her Givenchy knotted knee high combat boots alone cost a staggering $1,790.00! :

Top 5 Double Buckle Cuff Military Boots Like the All Saints ‘Damisi’ Boots

We know just how popular All Saints boots are. Well, it seems like their popularity has really hit an all-time high this season because so many shoe brands have come out with their own version of the All Saints boots for Fall 2011!

Here we’ve rounded up a handful of lookalikes of not just any All Saints boot but THE All Saints boot: the ‘Damisi’. The ‘Damisi’ features a double-buckled cuff at the top of the boot shaft and though there were plenty of other boots that have this cuff, we limited our picks to those that stayed true to the double buckle style.

So here they are, our top 5 double buckle cuff boots like the All Saints ‘Damisi’ boots. The All Saints boots themselves retail for about $300.00 and though there are a couple on this list that are priced in the $300.00 to $400.00 range, majority of our picks are priced much, much lower than that.

Let’s start with the fifth pick and work our way up:

5. Tapeet by Vicini Z07022

This Tapeet by Vicini boot starts off our list. It’s the only one on this list that has a distressed look to its suede material which as you may know is one of the defining features of All Saints boots. We also love the crepe sole on this boot — it gives it a more laidback feel.

4. Sendra City Ranger

Number 4 is this ‘City Ranger’ boot from Sendra. As you can see, it’s got the look of the All Saints ‘Damisi’ boot down pat! If only it were priced lower, this would’ve been higher on our list.

3. Wanted Shoes Depart

Right in the middle is Wanted Shoes’ ‘Depart’ boot style. In addition to the double buckle cuff and the lace-up closure, this boot has also got a kiltie detail at the vamp.

The metal hardware also changes with the color of the boot. It’s silver for the black leather and bronze for the brown leather.

2. Call It Spring Litrenta

In at number 2 is this ‘Litrenta’ boot from Call It Spring. This boot has a lug sole which isn’t present on the All Saints ‘Damisi’ boot but that detail doesn’t really take away from the design. If anything, it actually might be preferable over the smooth leather outsole. But still, that takes away points from this boot and only makes it end up at the number 2 rank.

1. 2 Lips Too Too Livid

So what’s our to pick? This ‘Too Livid’ boot from 2 Lips Too. Aside from resembling the All Saints ‘Damisi’ boot the most, this boot is also the least expensive on this list at $64.95!

Price typically plays a big part in our choices, especially considering that the boot that we’re comparing with is $300.00. We love that this boot gives the most similar look and gives it for A LOT less.

So, do you agree with our choices? As for the distressed look, well, there’s always trying to achieve it through natural means. Scuffing up and wearing out a pair of boots is usually the fun part about owning a new pair of boots anyways. Certainly beats having to pay hundreds of dollars for that “pre-worn” look!

Russell Brand Rocks Red Rock Restaurant in All Saints Demise Boots

Always rockified Russell Brand was seen coolly and calmly leaving Red Rock restaurant in Los Angeles after grabbing a bite to eat last Friday.

The 36-year-old British Comedian then later made a stop at the juice bar at Great Earth Vitamins to pick up a smoothie to help wash down his lunch the healthy way.

Our sister site Your Next Shoes featured the first Steve Madden 4 The Cool People collection in their blog last April. This collab started out with a handful of 70s-inspired platform wedges and just a couple of months later, it has exponentially grown to include clogs, pumps, loafers and now, boots.

We still don’t know much about The Cool People shoe label aside from being a sub-brand of ALDO shoes, but what we do know is that they’re heading in the right direction under the guiding, trend-dictating hand (foot?) of Steve Madden.

Who Rocked the Over-the-Knee Socks with Mid-Calf Boots Look Better? Megan Fox Vs. Shenae Grimes

We just featured Megan Fox and her Alexander Wang Dakota booties yesterday but as soon as I saw the paparazzi pictures of Shenae Grimes from the other day, they instantly reminded me of Megan.

Why? Well because in them, Shenae is wearing an outfit that looks eerily similar to an outfit that Megan herself wore 3 months ago. So pardon the back-to-back Megan Fox blog posts but I think you have GOT to see this:

Here’s Megan Fox’s outfit. She was on her way to the L’Ermitage Hotel in these pictures. Megan obviously loves comfortable casual outfits and this particular one imprinted itself in my mind because it’s one of her top “just thrown together” looks. Megan also wore a near-similar look to a Grammy after party but this grey sweater + black shorts + black over the knee socks + wedge booties combo preceded it by a couple of weeks.

And here’s Shenae Grimes’s outfit:

Megan’s “thrown together” look suddenly looks polished compared to Shenae’s loose sweater, cuffed shorts and military boots but overall, it’s the same outfit.

Jessica Alba wore her All Saints boots to stop by the Radium Reel FX Creative Studio in Santa Monica, California last Friday. She wore hers with a flowy striped dress, a black blazer and a lacy black shoulder bag which were very feminine and tailored compared to her rugged All Saints boots.

Miley on the other hand went with the ruggedness and styled her All Saints boots with just-as-comfy clothes. Miley went for loose tank tops, chunky sweaters, cuffed cargo pants and leggings, which she topped off with a light leopard print scarf for the two consecutive days she was spotted out shopping.

For the lifetime use you can get out of All Saints boots, the approximately $300 price tag they carry actually sounds reasonable don’t you think? And though they’re extremely popular now, combat boots never seem to really go out of fashion, thanks to the now iconic brand Dr. Martens which paved the way for this boot style.

Avril Lavigne – 4 Albums and Still Rockin’ the Doc Martens

Avril Lavigne celebrated the release of her fourth studio album “Goodbye Lullaby” at SL Lounge in New York City yesterday.

The 26-year-old singer, who flew to stardom nearly 10 years ago, was still rockin’ the same punk princess look she’s had since she was 17:

As they say, if it ain’t broke, then don’t fix it.

Avril’s 80s prom dress-inspired frock is the Peggy Sue Dress from fun fashion designer Betsey Johnson. As always, Avril added her own brand of punk rock to the sweet, frilly dress and paired it with black-rimmed eyes, bright red nail polish and green and pink hair streaks.

Of course, this is Avril we’re talking about so a dress like that needs to be worn with big, black combat boots. And if we’re talking punk and combat boots, only one brand comes to mind - Dr. Martens.

Not Rated Stud Muffin Combat Boots Vs. Jeffrey Campbell All Stud Boots

These Not Rated Stud Muffin combat boots are new arrivals over at Zappos but they’re already on sale:

Which is really just all the more reason to be interested in them, especially since they’re such dead ringers for these super popular Jeffrey Campbell All Stud boots from way back in 2009 (which we also featured in a studded boots post from that same year):

The Jeffrey Campbell boots are still available at Solestruck for $269.95 while the Not Rated boots are $68.00, marked down from $85.00, at Zappos.

But based on these pictures, don’t the Not Rated boots look like they’re the ones that cost hundreds of dollars while the Jeffrey Campbell boots are the lower-priced ones? It could be because Zappos only has better pictures but the studs on the JCs aren’t even aligned or attached on straight.

Jeffrey Campbell might have been able to price their shoe that high because they were first to get on this studded combat boot trend, but if the Not Rated boots came out at the same time, Jeffrey Campbell would have had some serious competition.
