The first time I took notice of Demi Lovato’s new style was a few days just before her birthday. These pictures are from her visit to the FOX & Friends studio on August 16th for an interview on the morning show:

At first I thought Demi Lovato was wearing spats in these pictures but she’s wearing actual pump boots with exposed vamps. Or platform pumps with attached hugs. Or high heel boots with cutouts. Actually, I’m not so sure what to call these boots but they’re the Steve Madden A-Jenay:

Demi Lovato was photographed again just a few days later after her Fox & Friends visit and this time, she was wearing a pair of very chic zipper ankle boots with cutouts:

Note how she paired her ankle boots with a studded cuff, more metal bracelets, various chain necklaces and huge hoop earrings to “rough up” her sexy oversized sweater and bandage skirt outfit.

Okay, so she’s wearing nearly the exact same outfit in the last set of pictures, but she changed things up with her choice of boots. I also prefer these cutout boots more because they’re more attention-grabbing than the CO-OP Barney New York ones.

I know Alexander Wang is revered for his mad shoe designing skills, but I can’t help but giggle at how these boots look! The first one is very cartoonish with its fat heel and overly rounded toe, while the second one could’ve been okay if it weren’t for the stuck-on leather sock.

The price tags on these are no laughing matter though: the chunky loafer clown boot is going for $745.00 while the steel toe sneaker boots with the dismembered-looking sock is even more expensive at $925.00.

Don’t get the wrong impression – not all Alexander Wang boots for fall 2010 are as silly. The brand capitalized on the success of their Freja Booties and they decided to go ahead and create a fantastic knee high version of their bestseller:

Knowing Lindsay’s penchant for boots, I have a feeling that we’ll be seeing more of Lilo and her favorite style of footwear long after her SCRAM bracelet has been removed.

The gorgeous 28-year-old actress was spotted in these pale grey knee high boots as she walked out of a building on May 1, 2010.

These tall boots may not look it at first glance, but these were actually designed specifically for the summer season.

Take a look at the heel: it’s a wedge covered in woven raffia, a material most appropriate for spring and summer. The shaft is made of unlined canvas, a cool, lightweight fabric that lets air circulate and skin breathe. The boot is in a slouch style which makes it look more laidback and relaxed, and lastly, it comes in warm-weather-friendly colors like pale grey, navy, and sand like in the picture above.

Even if these boots weren’t made for the spring and summer season, I would probably try to find a way to wear them every chance I get simply because they’re Louboutins. Who said fashion was practical?

Tall boots may be the last thing you’d want to wear during the warmer months, but you gotta agree that they look seriously high fashion. Take cue from Jessica Biel and wear them with tank tops and denim shorts and choose a light color to make them more appropriate for the weather. Now if only the outfit came with buff arms and toned thighs too…

I know Costume National is like one of the premiere Italian brands but somehow, I can’t get myself to like any of their shoes. They have the interesting details, like a neat button closure, a pretty color, or a fancy platform sole, but to me, there’s always something a bit off with their footwear. They somehow don’t get the heel right (it’s too thin or too thick), or the toes look wonky (it’s too pointed or too rounded), or that interesting detail they added is all out of proportion with everything else (the shoe just looks weird).

It’s kind of difficult to change my perception of the brand especially when they keep coming out with shoes like this:

And you thought the peep toe boot and the cutout heel boot was bad. Ladies and gentlemen, here’s the open toe side cutout knee high boot, only from Costume National.

It also could be a knee high boot and sandal hybrid, but that description doesn’t really make things any better does it? If it were a hybrid, then they could’ve chosen a better sandal style to attach a knee high shaft to other than that generic two-strap open toe mule.

Wouldn’t it feel weird to have your legs up to your knees all covered up and then look down to see nearly your whole foot exposed?

Anyway, the curved heel is lovely and you can tell that the dark wood leather used on these boots is premium. If you’re the type of person whose toes don’t get cold, then you’re in luck because these designer boots have been marked down to $640.00 down from $805.00. Get them at Zappos.com.
