12 Wide Calf Boots that are Sleek and Stylish

Looking for fashionable and affordable wide calf boots used to be like looking for the fountain of youth. It felt like they just didn’t exist!

But nowadays, thanks to a growing demand and a general acknowledgement that well, women do come in different sizes, we’re starting to see more and more choices of booth widths. Many shoe brands have expanded their inventory to include not only wide calf boots but also extra wide calf boots, with some companies even establishing themselves as wide width boot specialists.

What are these shoe brands? Fitzwell, Naturalizer, Ros Hommerson and Lumiani to name a few. UK-based shoe brand DUO is one such company that markets themselves as wide boot specialists and websites dedicated just to wide calf boots are quickly following suit.

Plenty of online retailers have also made looking for wide calf boots much easier; all you have to do is select the “wide” and “extra wide” categories and you’re all set to shop.

Suddenly, it feels like we have more wide calf boot options than we know what to do with. And because of this glut in supply, prices for wide calf boots have become very competitive, very reasonable and sometimes, even downright cheap.

Brooklyn Decker was in New York City last Wednesday to attend the launch party for Amazon‘s new website called MyHabit.com. I checked out the members-only site using my Amazon account and it turns out to be a fashion-focused site that offers private sales and special discounts on handpicked selections from designer brands to its members.

Vanessa Hudgens Stylin’ Short Shorts and Boots!

I feel like a week or even a day doesn’t go by that the paparazzi don’t take pictures of Vanessa Hudgens. It seems like they’re always catching her attending some event, going to dinner with friends or even just getting a cup of coffee!

Not that I’m complaining though because the way Vanessa mixes and matches her clothes is really fun to follow and try to copy. She’s got access to expensive labels but doesn’t exclusively wear designer clothes so that makes it easier for us regular folks to grab her style.

Vanessa brought out her artillery of couture when she attended New York Fashion Week a couple of weeks ago but when she returned to her hometown LA, she was back to her laidback, boho chic style. In fact, she’s been stylin’ a casual and comfy short shorts + boots look lately, two variations of which she wore to take a stroll and grab some lunch a few days ago:

How cute are these two looks? Those bright pink shorts in the first pic are definitely not for everyone but they work with Vanessa Hudgens’s bright, toothy smile. I also love how she topped off these outfits with comfy oversized cardigans and her ever faithful Fendi Unzipped Zip It Messenger Bag.

As for Vanessa Hudgens’s boots, the ones in the first picture are her now recognizable Chinese Laundry Turbo boots:

They’re actually over the knee but Vanessa loves to wear them slouchy!

The black suede version of these boots are now sold out everywhere but you can find the black, taupe and cognac leather colors at places like Amazon, 6pm, Zappos, Endless and Piperlime. Hint: Piperlime has them cheapest at $39.97 (down from $99.00 to $129.00) but sizes and colors are very limited in each of these websites. Are they or aren’t they? Ashley Greene was spotted out together with Joe Jonas in Studio City, CA last August 9th and it wasn’t the first time. They’ve been seen having lunch together several times in the last month and rumors are now flying that these two are dating.

So are they dating or not? More importantly, does it matter?

It probably does to a lot of people as these two are very high profile, but let me focus first on what matters to us most here on this blog: the cute pair of boots Ashley Greene was seen wearing on August 9:

Ashley Greene’s boots are the Deena & Ozzy Pin Stud Boots. The toes on her pair are a bit scuffed, but you kind of expect them to as these boots are only 20 dollars:

Correction: make that WERE 20 dollars. These non-leather boots are unfortunately now sold out everywhere and they probably sold out fast given their low price and the fact that Ashley Greene was seen wearing them.

Though the 20-dollar price tag is a little hard to beat, I did find a few boots that also have the straps-and-buckles style. Some of these aren’t that much more expensive ($30-40) while some ARE expensive ($80-$100), but at least they’re available and sizes are in stock:
