You know how sometimes when you’re shopping for boots, you can’t seem to make up your mind on whether to choose the brown or the black color because they look so much alike?

Well, this is NOT one of those boots. Not only does this Two Lips Handcuff lace-up knee high boot come in very different colors but it also looks like an entirely different boot with each color change.

The first color I came across was this black and grey combo. Very for-the-city, very urban — this is a color that would look great paired with an all-black outfit:

Then I saw them in this tan, camel and brown combo. Still wearable but somewhat bordering on “Renaissance fair”:

Finally, I saw them in plum. Actually not just plum but plum AND brick AND pink, a color combination reminiscent of court jesters:

Truth be told, this color also reminded me of the Dior Intrigante over-the-knee boots from Fall 2010. Except the colors on these are more out there and most definitely not for the faint of heart.

Boot Battle: Dolce & Gabbana Mesh and Suede Lace-Up Booties Vs. Two Lips Attitude Booties

It’s been a while since we last had a boot battle. This one today is a particularly good one.

While searching for Brooklyn Decker’s Dolce & Gabbana mesh and lace peep toe booties a couple of days ago, I came across these other mesh and suede lace-up booties also from Dolce & Gabbana:

Thes seriously sexy mesh and suede mash-up on these fierce booties made them very unforgettable and left an indelible impression on me.

So when I saw these Two Lips booties while shoe shopping online today, you KNOW what these instantly reminded me of! The mesh, the suede, the lace-up front — it’s all very Dolce & Gabbana. If it weren’t for the bigger holes in the mesh fabric, I could easily mistake these for the D&Gs at first glance:

But that’s just at first glance. The slightly thicker platform, the fatter suede shoelaces and yes, the larger holes in the mesh fabric on these Two Lips booties completely alter the original D&G design! You know that we’re always game for lower-cost options and look-for-less alternatives here on Boots 4 You but I wish Two lips had at least used a finer mesh for their version.

As for the prices, the Dolce & Gabbana booties are $760.00 (discounted down from the original $950.00 price) while the Two Lips booties are $69.97 (also discounted down from $99.95). I guess with that huge price difference, we can accept a few tweaks here and there.

Top Picks for Flat, Wedge and High-Heeled Over-The-Knee Boots

In line with last week’s over-the-knee boots blog post, this week, we’ve put together some of the best over-the-knee or thigh high boots for this coming winter season.

Flat Over-The-Knee Boots

Flat boots are the easiest to pull off when you dare to venture in over-the-knee shoe styles. They are obviously the easiest to walk in but remember to pick one aren’t totally flat and still has arch support.

1. Chinese Laundry Turbo, $98.95. These boots first became popular when Blake Lively’s character Serena van der Woodsen on Gossip Girl wore them. These have an elastic band in the back so you can easily tuck your jeans in.

2. Calvin Klein Mayson, $219.95. Go for these boots if you want the “so tight they look like leggings” look ala Anne Hathaway in The Devil Wears Prada. The elastic around the thigh ensures no-fall and no-slouch.

3. Type Z Riderz Wide Calf, $108.60 (on sale!). Girls with large calves will love this half leather half elastic boot. The brown and black tone-on-tone combinations are exquisite.

4. Pour La Victoire Victorina, $504. An over-the-knee motorcyle boot, ’nuff said.

Wedge Over-The-Knee Boots

A wedge gives that much needed height without the discomfort. A nice wedge heel on an over-the-knee boot makes a taller and slimmer line.

1. Stuart Weitzman Topup, $595. Gorgeous brown color combined with the gold zipper and platform.

2. Boutique 9 Fortunato, $329. Nice stacked heel and tassel accent around the leg opening. The slouch around the leg is well-placed – if it were any lower, it would’ve made the wearer’s ankles look huge.

High-Heeled Over-The-Knee Boots

Tread lightly in the high-heeled department! Stay away from the shiny patent leather and choose a thicker heel over a skinny stiletto.

1. Nine West Iunia3, $138.95. This is actually made of pleather but it’s not shiny. The shoe itself looks like a regular high-heeled pump with a shaft attached to it.

2. Two Lips Kinky, $169.95. These are also available in gray and they are just as covetable.

3. Dolce Vita Marilyn, $367. Were these boots named after Marilyn Monroe or Marilyn Manson? Either way, this bondage-themed over-the-knee boot is hot. The sky-high heel is offset by the thick straps and tough-looking buckles.
