Blake Lively was a total cutie while out Christmas tree shopping last Tuesday. She also looked like she was seriously contemplating her purchase as the camera caught several pictures of her looking very deep in thought:

We can’t blame Blake Lively for really thinking about this purchase – picking just the perfect tree for Christmas is a very crucial decision to make!

Blake Lively may look all serious in these photos but her outfit is anything but. Her colorful Twelfth St. by Cynthia Vincent Blanket Sweater is made even more fun by a cute quilted Chanel bag and a chunky stone necklace, all topped off with this really gorgeous pair of harness boots:

Blake Lively’s boots are the Coach Weslyn Boots. If you’re a Gossip Girl fan (or watched a few of the early episodes at least), you’d know that she has worn these on the show before:

These boots were one of the first articles of clothing worn on the show that really got people talking and taking notice of Gossip Girl fashion. And for some reason, Coach didn’t remanufacture the Weslyn Boots despite the huge demand for them.

Anyway, that’s too bad for them because they could’ve made some serious money off of those boots! Thankfully, the design isn’t really all that complicated and we found this great alternative from Frye:

The UGG and Jimmy Choo limited edition boots are finally out and available. Coming from two immensely successful, multi-million dollar footwear brands, very high expectations were built for this fashion collaboration since it was announced early this year.

Unfortunately, all the hype turned out to be, well, just hype and not even Amber Valletta’s beauty could mask what they truly are: nothing more than just overly bedazzled boots stuck with studs, stars and fringes.

Even Jimmy Choo president Tamara Mellon admitted that they took “the traditional boot and just decorated it”. Well, that’s what the boots ended up looking like. I feel like UGG could’ve held on of those “Celebrities Design Uggs for Charity” events and they would’ve come up with the same thing.

Wait a minute – celebrities DO designed Uggs for charity. In fact, they do it every year! UGG Australia holds their Art & Sole Auction at the end of each year where they let celebrities and other famous personalities go to town on Ugg boots. Most of these boots are just hand painted, but I would prefer these over overpriced, over-bedazzled Uggs any day:

UGG and Jimmy Choo had their savvy design teams to back up their collaboration but their only advantage over these doodled-on boots is a glue gun. At least the proceeds from these celebrity-designed boots benefit the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

3 Fighting Looks With Combat Boots

We’ve got mad love for combat boots here at Boots4You - we’ve featured them here at least 1, 2 or 3 times before.

This could be what some people might call an unhealthy obsession, but the good news is we’re not the only ones: celebrities have also started a love affair with the combat boot, and we’re seeing more and more of this scruffy and clunky footwear on some of the most pampered feet in Hollywood.

If you’re still not sure if you should enlist yourself for the combat boot trend, then maybe this post will convince you just how versatile they are. We’ve put together 3 different outfit variations with the combat boots, courtesy of actresses Blake Lively and Taylor Momsen, and model Ali Stephens.

Blake Brings on the Bling

Combat boots are the best things for pairing with pretty things. The clash of the tough versus the girly makes for an interesting outfit contrast, and it also makes clothes like Blake’s super sparkly silver jacket inexplicably appropriate for daytime wear.

Wear combat boots with your own frilly tops, short dresses, and sequined clothes and see if you don’t feel like grinning and stomping around like Blake in this picture.

Taylor Totally Tailored

Although the trend now is to wear combat boots unlaced and unkempt, you can actually still wear them like they were designed to be worn: all laced up and tidy. Taylor Momsen wears hers all neat and tied up, and by switching the laces with thick ribbons, she makes her combat boots look instantly polished.

Try Taylor’s trench coat, scarf, and fedora look with combat boots. Of course you can wear them unlaced if you prefer, but you can do head-to-toe Taylor and wear your boots all laced up too. Changing the shoelaces to ribbons are optional.

Ali All-American

Even though Ali’s combat boots look like they’ve gone through some battles already, she still looks fresh, cool and all-American all at the same time in this outfit. A fitted jacket, a structured bag, and a pair of slim pants suddenly look relaxed when paired with a baseball cap, a thick scarf, and scuffed combat boots. Ali Stephens in this picture is the perfect example of how to wear combat boots with casual clothes without looking sloppy.

How to Wear Thigh-High / Over-the-Knee Boots

Tricky, tricky, tricky – over-the-knee boots, that’s what they are.

Although boots that go up to there were predicted to be a major fall 2009 shoe trend, it looks like they’ll still be around until the first half of 2010. This means it’s time to take out the ol’ Stairmaster.

So how do you wear over-the-knee boots and exude haute couture instead of hooker chic? We’ve compiled some celebrity looks that would totally work and some that might prompt sleazy guys to ask what exactly is your line of “work”.

We’re Not So Sure…

Hayden Panettiere: Over-the-knee boots don’t work on all body types. They highlight the thickest part of the thigh and Hayden Panettiere has the misfortune of picking a pair that doesn’t do justice to her petite frame.

Rihanna: We all know that fishnet stockings should never be paired with over-the-knee boots. But how about boots that are made to look like fishnet stockings? Kind of a 2 for 1 deal? Um – no. Still doesn’t look good.

Kelly Rowland: She looks good from the thigh up but her over-the-knee boots in shiny patent leather cheapens her entire look.

Ashley Tisdale: Don’t know if it’s just the angle of the shot but Ashley Tisdale’s boots look like they don’t fit her. They bunch up and make the svelte starlet look like she has bigger ankles than she actually does.

We’d Put Ourselves in their Shoes…

Lea Michele: The Glee actress hits all the right notes with her over-the-knee boots. They fit just right around the thigh and the knees and has the perfect amount of slouch around the leg.

Blake Lively: It’s easy to wear over-the-knee boots when you’re as tall as Blake. The Gossip Girl main star keeps it cool and casual by pairing her boots with a plaid peacoat and a brown leather bag.

Hilary Duff: Keeping everything in proportion here – Hilary Duff balances her skintight over-the-knee boots with an oversized tee and big accessories.

Gwen Stefani: It’s difficult enough to pull off over-the-knee boots but high-heeled over-the-knee boots? It’s suicide. But Gwen Stefani shows us that by keeping everything else covered, it can look so fashion forward. Having a sparkling personality like Gwen’s wouldn’t hurt either.

Fluorescent Doc Martens: Ultra Bright Flashback to the 80s and 90s

Remember Doc Martens? They were big in the late 80s and 90s but of course, punk rockers will say that they never really went away.

German doctor Klaus Martens developed this iconic “bouncing sole” boot after he injured his ankle in a skiing accident.
